Ahmed Krifla is an autodidact painter who grew in Taza, Morocco. He soon became interested in painting and decided to make a living out of it. Orphan, Krifla quickly developed a great sensitivity which echoes in his works. All along his career, he has represented is homeland, Taza, which he never wanted to leave. His paintings are figurative and mostly represent families and landscapes : olive groves, wheat fields, wooded spots… However, his paintings are quite original and slightly surrealistic with bright colors (red, orange, violet…). Krifla also worked on merging shadows and lights on a single piece of canvas, which creates a certain kind of fictitious world after all. Some of the artist’s works seem straight out of a dream where trees are animated, alive, and a bit frightening as well.
