26 December 2019 - 5 January 2020
A timely and ambitious selection of artists of diverse origins will be featured in this new exhibition, in the heart of the riad, where each will explore their African roots, inspirations, and singularities.
Among them, young Evans Mbugua represents the human form at the centre of his artistic creation, using Pop Art iconography. The portraits by Ivorian artist Johanna Choumali, winner of the 2019 Prix Pictet hang alongside images by photographer Nicolas Henry, whose very personal expression is developed from within the carefully staged spaces of dreamlike worlds.
The work of Moroccan artists Hicham Benohoud and Abdelkrim Ouazzani will also hold place of honour in this exhibition.
This group of artist share the commonality of their relationships with the world and humankind. Bearing witness to their time, they express in one voice the need for a universal quest for identity, in which art plays a major role.
